For a few weeks now, I've noticed that several of my plates, glasses and cookware have gone missing. My parents and my recently paroled brother live in an apartment downstairs, so sometimes they take dishes downstairs. I figured that's where the missing items were, but I did a thorough search of the entire downstairs area (including under my dad's bed) and couldn't find them anywhere.
My brother just came upstairs and told me that he found a lot of dishes strewn throughout the woods beside our house. But he said that he did not do it, of course. So I asked my parents - neither of them are owning up to doing it either. I'm quite certain it was one of them. My mother is a known hoarder and could have thought that I was going to get rid of the dishes and threw them out in the woods to hide them.
But it was most likely my dad, who has a problem with prescription medication. Even though I administer all of his nerve & pain pills to him, he still manages to get completely effed up. He does things like walk around with his underwear on outside of his clothes, scrape down the side of my car backing out of the driveway WITHOUT REALIZING HE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, and putting ice cream in the oven (turned on). So yeah, it was probably him. In a pill-induced stupor he probably thought he was taking the dishes to the sink (AKA the woods by the house).
All I can do is retrieve the dishes from the wilderness, salvage what I can, and drink a big glass of wine. Maybe I should take one of daddy's nerve pills, they seem to work for him.
